Exquisite Hand-Painted Edwin Loxley Kitchen
Forest Row, East Sussex
This Edwin Loxley Charterhouse in-frame shaker kitchen epitomises luxurious elegance and is the perfect choice for our Forest Row client’s gorgeous country home, harking back to the style of kitchen that would have originally featured in this traditional property. The in-frame kitchen is based upon a historic design that sadly fell out of favour with the advent of modern manufacturing technologies. However, the in-frame style is now more popular than ever, and at HKS, our designers and customers alike adore its exquisite quality and charming appearance. All our in-frame kitchens are handcrafted using traditional techniques to ensure their immaculate finish and remarkable authenticity.
One of the most extraordinary features of this stunning Forest Row kitchen is the stylish bespoke peninsular. In older properties, it’s not unusual for the interior to feature its own distinct idiosyncrasies and this is certainly true of this Forest Row home. Two beams create a small alcove in the middle of the room which poses a challenge when intending to position a run of cabinetry along the wall. To solve this dilemma, our talented designers have crafted a bespoke curved peninsula to bridge the space and create a wonderful design feature. The curved form beautifully mirrors the arched doorway opposite, emphasising this characterful traditional feature. As well as looking stunning, the small peninsula provides useful extra storage and worktop space within convenient reach of the Aga. It also subtly distinguishes the dining and cooking areas as separate zones, benefiting the layout and atmosphere of the kitchen. This seemingly simple element masterfully elevates this gorgeous Forest Row interior to the next level.

Detailing & Style
An elegant grey colour scheme ties the design together perfectly. The soft grey cabinetry beautifully complements the Sensa Colonial White Granite worktop and classic flagstone flooring. Opting for a cohesive bright palette throughout the room helps to create a feeling of openness and light, essential to enhancing this long low-ceilinged space. The graceful hue pairs wonderfully with a traditional in-frame style kitchen to bring sophisticated and timeless charm. Warming accents of rich oak wood create a welcoming country kitchen atmosphere and are expertly balanced by the stylish British Racing Green Aga cooker.
This gorgeous Forest Row kitchen features a host of immaculate finishing touches. Under cabinet lighting warmly illuminates the exquisite granite worktops capturing their incredible depth and beauty as well as giving clear visibility for practical tasks. Internal lighting has been incorporated into the symmetrically positioned glass-fronted cabinets to bring extra brightness to the far end of the room as well as making a charming display of our Forest Row client’s glassware. The soft glow sets the perfect mood for a cosy dining zone. Exceptional silver bar, cup and mushroom handles add a luxurious detail while a quirky blackboard completes the country kitchen aesthetic. Despite this kitchen’s gorgeous classic appearance, the design includes incredible state-of-the-art technology in the form of Liebherr refrigeration. Elegant looks, immaculate detailing and exceptional functionality combine to make an extraordinary Forest Row kitchen.
